Одна сцена затрагивает сторону, не представленную в картине Линча, а именно сексуальную жизнь Меррика. Появившийся в этот момент доктор Тривз глубоко шокирован. Миссис Кендал больше никогда не увидит Меррика. When he died in 2007, it was suggested that he should receive a state funeral; but his supporters and family requested just a "national hommage".
